Dr. Nizam Meah and his wife, Mrs. Jesmin Meah, have long believed that being part of a community means actively supporting it. This philosophy is the cornerstone of their philanthropic efforts, which are deeply rooted in a family legacy of education and service. As residents of the Pearland area for over a decade, the Meahs have demonstrated their commitment to their community through the establishment of the Meah Family Foundation.
In a significant gesture of their dedication to supporting others, the Meah Family Foundation has made a generous commitment of $100,000 annually for five years to the University of Houston-Clear Lake’s (UHCL) “Pathways to Employment” program. This initiative is designed to assist teens and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their transition from high school to meaningful and successful employment.
The program, run by UHCL’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (CADD), provides crucial support and skills training to neurodiverse individuals. The Meah family’s contribution will play a pivotal role in expanding the program’s reach and impact, helping to transform the lives of many young adults in the community.
“To be part of the community, you must support it,” says Mrs. Meah. “We don’t just want to live here; we want to be a full support organization for the community.”
This sentiment perfectly encapsulates the Meah family’s vision and their dedication to making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of others. Their generous support of the “Pathways to Employment” program is a testament to their unwavering commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive community for all.
